My New Car

Have been driving a yellow jeep for the last 4 years...a four wheeled little number named Sweet Agnes. She had a lot of good qualities ...removal top so one could have one's very short thinning hair blow in the breeze...the color, bright yellow, to warn those that a granny was approaching and to get out of the way or take their chances...a way to get grand kids, and stuff down to our beach that is a drive on beach. Then this summer something happened...the girls had gotten bigger and the "extra" space had gotten smaller...boogie boards no longer fit....the cooler was too big and even the beach chair needed more space. Sweet Agnes had shrunk. As much as I loved her, not having trunk space was always an issue with us, but lately her horrible addiction to expensive gas was also causing us problems and tensions were building. She needed a younger driver, a thinner driver, a driver who could take her on muddy roads and overnight adventures....so I decided to trade her in.....for a sweet little blue number, a Prius hybrid by Toyota, which doesn't suck down gas, has plenty of room, including two trunk sections, and even a backup camera to keep me from hitting vacationing bicyclers who haven't been on bikes in years and are not only a danger to themselves but a danger to all drivers. The new car doesn't like sand between her treads...but she is willing to park close to a beach walk on and wait for me....so now I have to come up with a new name for her....she arrives at the end of the month, so meantime Sweet Agnes and myself are spending our last days together driving down to the beach and watching sunsets together. She understands and seems eager for her new adventure to begin....she is hoping for mountain trails, muddy holes and ruts, and open campfires...something this old lady couldn't provide her with. After four years I think she has waited long enough and I wish her well as she does
me and my name less new little blue number.

TRAPUNTO

Here are two great videoos online by Pasty Thompson. She makes Trapunto look so easy...and her free hand motion stitching is wonderful.

WORDS AND THE POWER THEY CARRY

Angry Words once spoken, take on a life of their own...they can haunt one's thoughts, they can be heard as if fresh just before falling asleep and they can dampen a new day's beginning. "Stinging" words don't leave outside scars but their poison goes straight to one's thoughts and eventually reside in one's heart.

Since ANGRY WORDS are on my mind ...went out and found some great sayings about Words and the power they hold. I feel an art quilt beginning to form in my mind. (GRIN)

If you wouldn't write it and sign it, don't say it. ~Earl Wilson

By swallowing evil words unsaid, no one has ever harmed his stomach. ~Winston Churchill

If you have any problems at all, don't hesitate to shut up.

When the only tool you own is a hammer, every problem begins to resemble a nail.

Trying to be right all the time is a very subtle way of being wrong.

Food isn't the only thing that causes indigestion. You can also get it from eating crow and swallowing your pride.

PAINTJAM DAN

Here is a video of a painter that paints very fast, uses a canvas that spins, uses music to paint by and is amazing....he reminds me of art quilters...our fabrics are the paint...our pins and glue sticks are our brushes and our design boards are like his spinning canvas. And of course music is always the inspiration that helps us to create. . DON"T Leave the site until the final painting is shown. You will be amazed.......I promise.
