My Daughter Turned 40

Today has been a sentimental day for me...as my one and only daughter turned 40. Have been emailing her old age sayings all day to remind her that we are getting closer in "age". She has been a real joy and I feel very bless to have lived with her and learned from her for the past 40 years. I think as mothers it a real joy to see your daughter grow up and be such a "with it" woman, a woman that is able to stand up for herself, able to speak her mind, able to take care of herself, and is a great Mom herself. Not only is she my daughter but she is also my best friend. I am lucky indeed.

Mermaid Surprise

The big 65 happens this coming Saturday sort of...I'm really a Leap Year Baby so don't have a true birthday this year. In fact if I really did only count my true birthdays I would only be 16 and a 1/4 year old. But my mirror and my body joints don't recognize true birthdays. anyway the reason for my entry (not begging for birthday greetings) is my hubby gave me my present early. I love mermaids, after all I live at the beach. My gift is a wooden carved old mermaid....I saw her in an antique shop about a year ago...fell in love with her but felt that she was out of my price range. Everytime I went into the store would glance at her and then walk on by. My hubby knew of my mermaid lust ...so he came home with her this morning as my gift for the big 65. So not only do I get Medicare this month...I also get my beloved mermaid.

Playing with P. Allen Again

Am enrolled in my second online class with Pamela Allen. I learn so much about design and use of fabrics from her classes. If you ever get a chance to take a class either in "real life" or online...I would highly recomend it. This class is on Still Life. We are just beginning lesson three. I thought I would post both lesson 1 and lesson 2 images that I did...they are only pinned and glued in place...stitching will happen after the class. First Lesson black and white only. Lesson 2 Muted colors, plaids, stripes, and using fabric images to detail piece.

I love to play around with my fabric pieces in Photoshop Elements and turn them in to "painted or altered pieces. Here are four.

A Fiber Art Postcard /ATCS Workshop

On January 24th our Women on the Fringe Group did a Fiber Postcard and ATC Workshop for our local Cultural Art Association. We had 18 students that participated. We had so much fun sharing many of our favorite techniques with them and we hope that they had fun too. Here is a Powerpoint Presentation that shares our day creating. Enjoy.

Miss TWO TAIL is DONE!

She is done except for putting the highlights in her eyes...need to hang her up and look at her eyes for awhile to see where the best place is to put them in. Also need to find the buttons I purchased over a month ago for the seahorse and fish eyes...I think I have hidden them from myself. Something I seem to do quite often. I really had fun making her and "listening to her" as she whispered her wants to me. I really learned a lot about beading, made many mistakes but also learned a lot too.
